At Optima, social responsibility and community involvement are fundamental principles that guide our work. With this in mind, we have launched the campaign "Your Blood, a Drop of Hope, a Chance at Life", a blood donation initiative aimed at supporting the healthcare system and saving lives. It is a project of the heart of our company, designed to mobilize employees in support of blood donation. Through this campaign, we aim to encourage as many people as possible to become donors, giving those in need a real chance of life.
"We all want to play an increasingly important role in our community and be able to make a difference in the lives of others. Today, I urge you in the coming period to mobilize and make a difference by donating blood for those in need, who are suffering." - Bogdan Rosu, Board Member Optima
Interview-Cristina I
How did you first decide to donate blood?
Although I was afraid, at the urging of a friend I decided to "give it a try"! It was the best decision I ever made! Immediately I felt that it was the right human gesture, and that it didn't require much effort to do it.
Did you donate once or did you do it again?
I have been an active donor for over 7 years. What's active? I donate every 4 months. I use the BlooDoChallenge app and the process is very simple! I schedule myself according to my calendar and it reminds me a few days before I donate! For those interested I leave the link here: 📌 Download the app here: https://bloodochallenge.com.
What motivates you to donate blood regularly?
There are many factors that motivate me to donate regularly. Firstly the joy that I am a healthy man, and I can do this! Secondly it is a blessing to know that the blood I donate is of use to someone who is fighting between life and death.
How did you feel after donating blood?
I feel great after every blood donation, both physically and mentally. The feeling that I am doing my part to save more lives is amazing!
What are the benefits of donating blood for you?
The benefits are multiple. After each donation, blood is replenished, the body's immunity increases; the risk of stroke, heart attack, cancer is reduced by up to 30%.
What side effects should a new donor expect?
There are no side effects. In all the blood donation campaigns I've organized, the most common thing I've heard is "I'm scared"... Yes, it's normal to be nervous because it's something unknown! But fear is fueled by our thoughts which often have nothing to do with reality. From a medical point of view, donating blood has no side effects. And the procedure itself... frankly, it hurts more when they draw your blood for testing than the sting of donating.
What advice would you give to someone who has not yet decided to donate for the first time?
If their health allows them to donate, I recommend them to take courage! They will congratulate themselves for their initiative, the feeling is unique. One donation can save 3 lives! And those lives can be their parents, grandparents or friends! It is the easiest way to get actively involved in the community's need. Take courage and join the blood donor club!
The "Your Blood, a Drop of Hope, a Chance at Life" campaign represents our company's firm commitment to making a real difference in the community. By mobilizing our resources and actively engaging the Optima community, we believe we can save lives and provide hope to those who need it most. We invite everyone who can donate blood to join us in this noble endeavor and contribute to the success of this vital campaign.
LET'S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER!
